Episode Overview
In 1519 Yucatan, Doug and Tony find themselves amidst a violent assault by Cortez and his Spanish forces on the indigenous people. Attempting to rescue locals tortured for the secrets of a sacred golden mask, they are apprehended and mistaken for spies. With Cortez planning their execution after burning his ships, a native ally helps them escape, while Doug cleverly threatens Cortez with explosives to buy time. The Project team reaches out to Castillano, a terrain expert with a shady past. As the duo delays their pursuers with makeshift explosives, Castillano betrays them for a chance to claim the mask. When the mask is recovered, the Project staff inadvertently traps everyone in time, leading to a chaotic standoff as Castillano demands to keep the mask at gunpoint.
