Angela firmly opposes Chase's assertion of shared ownership of Falcon Crest. Meanwhile, Lance, resentful about potentially splitting his inheritance with Melissa, takes on the task of keeping Chase off the vineyard. Richard Channing, the illegitimate son of Angela's deceased husband, is set to assume leadership of The Globe, prompting Angela to seek ways to thwart his plans. The newspaper is merely a fraction of "The Company," owned by Henri Denault, Richard's mentor and stepfather. Driven by a quest to uncover his mother's identity, Richard relocates to California. Tension escalates when Cole confronts Melissa about her pregnancy, leading to a violent altercation with Carlo. Following Gus's tragic death in a gas explosion, Chase threatens Angela with an affidavit implicating her in the incident, forcing her to concede to sharing control.
