Episode Overview

While working at Bardwell's one day, Charles Grodin stops by to chat with the girls. Laverne misinterprets his friendly conversation as a date invitation and invites him to dinner. When the group gathers that evening, Charles shows up, and Shirley mistakenly believes he’s there to take their gift-wrapping jobs, leading her to be unkind to him. Meanwhile, Lenny and Squiggy are bickering with Laverne and Shirley over a lack of water for rinsing Squiggy’s hair, while Shirley and Carmine argue about his habit of taking her to dinner using coupons. As tensions rise, Charles attempts to diffuse the situation but inadvertently hurts Laverne when it’s revealed he didn’t ask her out. The guys then insist he leave, prompting everyone to reflect on their behavior. Charles returns to mend things, and Laverne and the gang forgive him, leading to a newfound camaraderie as they head out to eat together.
