Episode Overview

As Syd's CAT scan results are examined by her physician, Jim discovers that her brain shows no harm. Syd begins to question her existence, but her mother reassures her she is alive. Syd realizes her purpose at Paradise Inn is to uncover whether her life is truly "over," and that she must engage her heart, mind, and soul to return to her former self. In search of solace, Jim listens to a recording of his daughter's voice. While attempting to register at Paradise Inn, Syd suddenly experiences a seizure. Bert is called away to a fire, leading Jim to suspect that a bite may have triggered Syd's episode. Lynda introduces Syd to the other residents, where Joanie expresses her affection for Bert and plays a song that stirs Syd's desire to leave the Inn. Lynda, however, wants her daughter to stay. As the fire situation worsens, Joanie fears for Bert's safety, and Jim pleads for Syd
