Going Straight (1978)
Overview
Going Straight, a 1978 BBC sitcom, continues the story of Norman Stanley Fletcher, portrayed by Ronnie Barker, freshly released from Slade Prison, the setting of its predecessor, Porridge. Determined to lead an honest life, Fletcher strives to stay away from crime, with the title reflecting his commitment to "going straight." Richard Beckinsale reprises his role as the unsuspecting Lennie Godber, now dating Fletcher's daughter Ingrid, while Nicholas Lyndhurst appears as her brother Raymond. Though it garnered over 15 million viewers and won a BAFTA, only six episodes were produced due to tragic circumstances following Beckinsale's untimely passing.
