Episode Overview

In Birmingham, Detective Mike Allison is investigating the murder of a man discovered shot in a basement stairwell. His team quickly locates an eyewitness and identifies a suspect, making it seem like the case is solved. However, everything falls apart when the eyewitness vanishes, forcing Allison to release the suspect. A year later, an unexpected development reignites the investigation. Meanwhile, in Charlotte, Detective Bo McSwain and his team are on the hunt for the killers of a man shot behind his girlfriend's home. They receive a lead when four men claim they are innocent. Although these men appear to be the suspects, their refusal to cooperate stalls the investigation. Just as they begin to leave, McSwain uncovers a crucial piece of evidence at the crime scene that halts one suspect in his tracks.
