A baby goes missing under suspicious circumstances, but Adam is the only one who believes the mother’s claim of abduction. Her reliability comes into question when they can't find a single photo of the child. Crime Scene reports the discovery of what looks like a shallow grave, but all they uncover is equipment for simulating a pregnancy. As the investigation unfolds, the mother’s sister arrives at the station, expressing serious concerns about her sister's mental state. The mother, once a successful journalist, had a breakdown after a highly publicized encounter with aliens. This raises doubts: did the mother harm her baby? Did the baby even exist, or is it all a figment of her troubled mind? Adam and Nick clash over Adam's support for her, and as a connection forms between the mother and Adam, she makes him promise to stand by her.
