Episode Overview

For months, Dash has been following PJ around, determined to show she has what it takes to be a detective. Her persistence pays off when she lands a spot on the shortlist for a Criminal Investigation position in Melbourne. However, she feels crushed when Tom expresses his doubts about her readiness, and PJ has never taken her seriously. Thankfully, Dash's mother, Beth, believes in her and joins her in Melbourne for the final interview and some shopping. Their strong bond makes Dash's potential promotion a proud moment for Beth. But this joy is short-lived. Upon returning to Mt. Thomas, Dash and Ben respond to a hit-and-run accident, only to find shopping bags belonging to the victim nearby. Heartbreakingly, Dash realizes the victim is her mother, and her dreams are shattered. The Heelers rally around her, but Dash throws herself into work, trying to fend off her grief.
