My Favorite Martian (1963)
S01E34 The Disastro-nauts
Episode Overview
Martin persuades Tim to leverage his reporter connections to secure a tryout for Martin as an astronaut on a Mars mission funded by Omar M. Keck. Even with a host of younger, typical astronaut candidates competing for the position, Martin's unique qualifications as a Martian earn him the role. Before departing, he lets Tim prepare a story about his uncle, "The Martian," for publication once Martin has launched. While heading to the air force base, Tim accidentally leaves the tape on Mr. Burns' desk, assuming Burns will arrive after Martin and the rocket are safely in the air. However, when the launch gets delayed, they must dash back to the office to retrieve the tape, only to watch the launch unfold without Martin on board. At least the launch goes off flawlessly!
