Edwardian Farm (2010)
S01E01 September
Episode Overview
In September, they kick things off with the essentials. After settling into one of the cottages and giving it a thorough clean, their first task is to clear the blocked chimney, enabling them to use the range for cooking. Excitement builds as they prepare for their first animals, a flock of sheep and a ram named Cyril. To brighten up the cottage, Ruth makes a rug from rags and cooks her first dish on the range: sheep's head stew. Meanwhile, Alex constructs a hay rick to store winter feed, while Peter ventures to Bodmin Moor to carve a stone trough for feeding. They also need to plant crops, but the soil’s high acidity poses a challenge. Their priority is to neutralize the soil with fertilizer, requiring them to produce dangerous quicklime in large quantities—a tough but necessary task.
