S01E02 October
Episode Overview
Title: October Plot: In October, the Edwardian farmers expand their operations into new areas, including market gardening, year-round egg production, and beef cattle. After obtaining a herd of cattle, they introduce a bull to their farm. The team also begins training their shire horses for the upcoming agricultural season, while two mischievous goats complicate milking time. Once a leading supplier of strawberries, Morwellham Quay's market gardens were left to decay for decades, but now the team is determined to revive them. Cider production, a cornerstone of the Edwardian rural economy, is tackled by Alex and Peter, who utilize a vintage cider press and a ton of apples. Ruth prepares for the winter months by pickling apples, salting ham, and smoking bacon. Peter learns barrel-making from a cooper, while Alex starts a chicken business. The month concludes with a traditional Edwardian Halloween celebration.
