Episode Overview
Dr. Larry Chambers (Gregory Harrison), a key figure in establishing the colony on Janus Five, teams up with fellow scientist Amanda Harper (Kimberly Huffman) to run computer simulations indicating that the planet's star will soon emit lethal radiation. Concerned, Dr. Chambers pushes for an evacuation, but his advice faces resistance from the colony's leadership, including council chairman Franklin Murdock (William Atherton), security chief Montgomery Bennett (Alan Scarfe), and Amanda's father, Ian Harper (Ken Pogue). They recall a previous costly evacuation prompted by Chambers’ erroneous warning about volcanic threats, suggesting his grief over his late wife, Elise, clouds his judgment. When he persists, Murdock and Bennett undermine his credibility by falsely claiming he is one of the original alien inhabitants.
