As Christmas and Ruby's first birthday draw near, the Rafter family faces a challenge in getting their lives back in order. Dave is battling his inner struggles, but with Julie's gentle encouragement, he decides to revisit therapy. At last, he finds the words his therapist has been urging him to express, indicating that he might be ready to confront his issues. When the family gathers to celebrate Ruby’s milestone and she takes her first wobbly step, it feels like hope is returning to the Rafter household. Julie learns that Coby's apprenticeship papers have come through, prompting the family to embrace a fresh start and let go of past resentments. Dave chats with Coby, who swears he won’t disappoint them again, leading Dave to extend his offer of an apprenticeship to his grateful nephew.
