Three months have passed since Ben and Nathan embarked on their Australian road trip. Now back home, Ben returns alone, sporting a tan and a beard, and concocts a convincing story to ease his family's worries. He feels the need to reclaim his old, carefree self, especially after losing Melissa. Meanwhile, life at home has changed significantly. Coby is living with Jake and has begun his apprenticeship with Dave. Ruby has taken her first steps, and the house has been baby-proofed. With Carbo and Retta's engagement party around the corner, the family is anxious about Rita's arrival and her reaction to their new relationship. As everyone welcomes Ben back, he appears cheerful, even in the face of Mel's life insurance cheque. However, revisiting his old room reveals the depth of his suppressed feelings.
