Episode Overview
Title: The Star Juror Plot: George Davies, a timid shopkeeper, makes an ill-fated advance towards the town's notorious woman, only to be spurned. In a moment of panic, he inadvertently takes her life. Unbeknownst to him, her boyfriend is arrested and put on trial for her murder. As fate would have it, George finds himself on the jury and cleverly orchestrates a way to exonerate the young man while concealing his own involvement. Although he succeeds, the town turns against George, ostracizing him and boycotting his store. The pressure drives the boyfriend to despair, leading to his tragic suicide. In a moment of guilt, George confesses to the authorities, but they dismiss him as delusional, believing the stress of the situation has taken its toll.
