Michael Barnes, a mystery novelist, finds himself implicated in a deadly car crash. As he takes on the role of his own defense attorney, he systematically dismantles the accounts of the witnesses, revealing their biases and inconsistencies. In a surprising twist, Barnes is cleared of all charges, but the truth comes to light: he was not behind the wheel. Instead, it was his pregnant wife who drove the car. Fearing the emotional toll a trial would take on her, Barnes orchestrated the situation to protect her from the pressures of the legal system.
