Episode Overview
On July 3, 1988, amidst the Iran–Iraq War, the USS Vincennes fires missiles that tragically destroy Iran Air Flight 655, resulting in the loss of all 290 lives aboard. The crew of the Vincennes asserted that, despite their advanced technology, they inaccurately identified the passenger jet as an Iranian Air Force F-14 Tomcat. Meanwhile, Iran contends that the United States intentionally targeted the civilian aircraft.
