Episode Overview
Joan's mom unexpectedly drops by and spends her time criticizing Joan's choices, especially her restaurant venture. Frustrated by the lack of encouragement, Joan finally confronts her mother, leading to Carol storming out. Meanwhile, Joan's ongoing disputes with William about the restaurant wear her down, and she decides to buy him out to maintain their friendship, but he refuses her offer. Their conversation turns to William's earlier confession of love, which irritates Joan when he labels it as "desperate." In a heated moment, Joan reveals she once attempted to visit him in New York to express her feelings. They share a passionate kiss, but the moment is interrupted when Joan's mother appears in a bathrobe, causing Joan to faint. Elsewhere, Maya is troubled to find Jabari has been ordering pay-per-view adult films.
