Episode Overview

On Ash Wednesday, Cesare Borgia leads Mass for the King of Naples and his court. Following the traditional ritual, he marks each attendee's forehead with ashes, reciting, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." However, when it’s King Federico d'Aragona's turn, Cesare unexpectedly draws a "C" on his forehead instead. This gesture puts Cesare at odds with the solemnity and sense of repentance that the occasion embodies.
