Episode Overview

Cesare and Alessandro arrive in Florence, dispatched by Pope Alexander VI, but instead of being welcomed with cheers and palm fronds, they face disapproving glares and whispers of disdain. Under Savonarola's regime, the once-vibrant city has turned somber and strict. Later, Cesare participates in a Palm Sunday Mass led by Savonarola. During the service, Nicolas Machiavelli expresses his hopes for Cesare to join the underground resistance against Savonarola. In a twist of irony, Machiavelli crafts a sling for Cesare out of palm leaves, expertly tied in a bow.
