The full extent of Mark's past in Belfast comes to light. He had a girlfriend, Siobhan Doyle, who was meant to join him but never arrived. Tragically, she passed away shortly after, and Mark was misled by his father into believing she died of tuberculosis. In truth, Siobhan died during childbirth, and Mark learns that they have a surviving daughter, a baby girl.
