Episode Overview
During a practice race, Speed is nearly forced off the track by a shadowy black car. That night, the same car pursues another vehicle, which recognizes it as the X3. Just before causing a crash, the black car ominously announces, "Melange still races," and also sends a second car spiraling out of control. The following day, Inspector Detector asks Speed for assistance. Meanwhile, Spritle and Chim Chim hide in the trunk of the Mach 5 with a tape recorder. In the ensuing chase, the X3 speeds away from Speed. Spritle later reveals a recording of the X3's message. Pops explains that the recent crash victims were coaches for the Three Roses Club, who were worried the Melange, driven by Slash Market, would defeat them. Interestingly, the Melange itself crashed, and Pops remembers Slash had two kids—Slash Jr. and Lilly. Inspector, Speed, and Trixie visit the siblings, but they claim to know nothing about the
