Speed Racer (1967)

Episode Overview

The episode begins in Africa, showcasing a lion pursuing a leopard. Their struggle is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a massive gorilla, its wrists still adorned with broken shackles. Meanwhile, Speed is en route to Africa, seated beside Professor Robert Carnivoré on the plane. The professor shares a tale about a colossal creature rumored to inhabit the mountain they're flying over. Speed is eager to compete in the Trans-Africa Grand Prix, a race spanning the continent, and is headed to Nairobi for the start. Suddenly, the pilot and co-pilot reveal themselves as exiles from Bangdabongo, threatening the pair with weapons. They seek Carnivoré's assistance to free their homeland, which fell into tyranny two decades ago. The men manage to secure parachutes for themselves, but Speed finds himself bound. As the plane hurtles toward the ground, Speed breaks free, grabs a parachute, and leaps at the last second, landing safely below.
