Episode Overview
Speed and his family are en route to the Grand Prix—the pivotal race for the World Racing Championship—when a fierce storm forces their plane to land on a deserted island. Once on the island, they discover that both the plane's and Mach Five's radios are damaged, while the other passengers are desperate to leave. The island appears to be an abandoned military base, and its uncharted nature leaves Speed unsure about sending the homing robot or whether they have enough oxygen to wait for rescue. Spotting advertising balloons brought by another passenger, Speed ingeniously converts the Mach Five into a dirigible using hydrogen from the base. They decide to draw lots to determine which three will venture out for help. After the drawing, Trixie selflessly gives her chance to a girl in need, and a wealthy man buys a lot from another winner. Meanwhile, Spritle and Chim Chim sneak aboard, prompting Speed to discard excess weight.
