The Enterprise is assisting a Romulan science ship when an unexpected incident causes Geordi LaForge and Ro Laren to shift slightly out of phase, rendering them invisible to everyone except one another. Unbeknownst to the crew, who believe the duo has perished, preparations for their funerals begin. Meanwhile, Geordi and Ro, trapped in this peculiar state, struggle to find a way back to their ship and reveal the truth about their predicament, unaware of the somber arrangements being made in their absence.
