S01E04 The Stranglers
Episode Overview
After a gang of horse thieves attacks the Elkhorn Ranch, Theodore Roosevelt and his men bravely defend their territory, but the thieves manage to escape with several horses. Furious, Roosevelt teams up with the Stranglers, a group of vigilantes led by Granville Stuart, who enforce their own form of justice in the lawless Badlands. When they capture one of the thieves, Roosevelt discovers that frontier justice can be flawed. Meanwhile, Elkhorn's operations are disrupted when Merrifield secretly meets with a Chicago beef merchant, prompting Sewall to make a reckless deal with Medora that leads to serious fallout. At the Hotel de Morés, Wilmot Dow and the charming Rosie feel an instant attraction.
