Episode Overview

With his cattle business thriving at Elkhorn Ranch, Theodore Roosevelt agrees to pose for a photographer. Eager to present himself authentically, he seeks a seamstress to craft a genuine buckskin suit. However, the grumpy seamstress cautions him that buckskin isn't ideal for the Badlands. Just then, Roosevelt suffers a sudden collapse from enteritis, a chronic illness he's battled throughout his life. Stranded in the frontier without proper medicine, his survival hangs in the balance. His loyal ranch manager, Bill Sewall, hastily rides into the Badlands in search of a Sioux village that might provide a cure. Meanwhile, the Marquis and Medora face impending financial disaster and decide to recover their debts through intimidation.
