Michael is genuinely taken with his son Jr.'s girlfriend, Vanessa, calling her a true catch: "She's gorgeous, intelligent, charming, and respectful... you two don’t share any interests," he remarks to Jr. However, Jay feels uneasy about her for reasons he can’t quite articulate. Meanwhile, Kady is getting to know a bright and charming young man named Franklin, who happens to be an aspiring piano virtuoso. On the other hand, Claire is preoccupied with her own troubles as the PSATs approach, causing her to break out in hives from anxiety.
