Eric and Annie are thrilled when their family is featured in a local newspaper, but things take an unexpected turn as the reporter interviews their children, uncovering more than just a simple story. Simultaneously, Matt faces defamation at his job from a jealous coworker. His roommate, John, takes a stand against a politician who has misquoted a prominent African American figure. In another twist, Ruthie's classmate steals one of her stories for a school competition. The episode also features a special cameo by inspirational gospel artist Sandi Patty in the role of herself.
