Eric and Annie face the emotional turbulence of their children's complicated romantic lives. Mary shocks her parents by revealing her decision to forgo college in the fall and rekindle her relationship with Robbie. Meanwhile, Matt is torn between his summer girlfriend Shana, who has returned to Glenoak, and his ex Heather, who admits her lingering feelings for him. Lucy finds herself dating Robbie's attractive brother Ronald, much to the dismay of Andrew Nayloss, who still likes her.
