Episode Overview
Marie, who doesn't attend church, seeks Eric's assistance in moving her elderly mother, Mrs. Wagner, into a nursing home. However, when Eric meets Mrs. Wagner, he realizes she's still quite independent and doesn't require the help Marie claims she does. Surprisingly, it becomes clear that Marie is the one who needs support, as she's struggling with her own dissatisfaction in life. The situation worsens when Mrs. Wagner ends up in the emergency room, overwhelmed by her daughter's stress. Meanwhile, Ruthie argues with Lucy during a shopping trip, intent on spending time with Vincent without Annie's knowledge. She hopes to attend a family dinner with him but ends up facing unexpected consequences, prompting a revealing discussion with Annie and Lucy in the driveway.
