Steve makes his way to Albuquerque to find his grandfather, Al, who runs a diner. Al shares the heartbreaking story of how Steve’s mother gave him up as a child to ensure he had a better life, and he reveals that Karen tragically passed away in a car accident. After visiting her grave with flowers, Steve manages to persuade a quirky, Santa-like pilot to fly him back home for Christmas. Meanwhile, Cindy struggles with sadness over her first Christmas in Beverly Hills. She attempts to host a Christmas Eve dinner for friends, but everyone is busy. Brandon visits Emily in a psychiatric facility, where she is thriving. Brenda starts a job at a high-end clothing store but feels guilty when her boss throws out a cheerful elderly man dressed as Santa. She intervenes and invites him to dinner. Dylan visits his father in prison and encounters the same Santa. Jackie is furious when Mel cancels their Christmas Eve plans to visit his estranged wife and son, David.
