Colin and Susan head to New York to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families, while the rest of the group opts to spend the holiday together. David invites his mother, whose constant tips on cooking frustrate Valerie, but she unexpectedly comes through when Val oversleeps. Clare takes Steve to a faculty mixer, where his charm wins everyone over. Meanwhile, Donna gives a deposition that doesn't paint Joe in the best light. As a birthday treat, she arranges for a visit from Steve Young and plans to sleep with Joe, only to discover he’s a virgin who opposes pre-marital sex. Kelly spends the evening at Brandon's watching videos and ends up in Steve's empty room. Valerie misinterprets the situation when she comes home to find Brandon and Kelly in a cozy embrace.
