While rehearsing for the "Baron's All-American Beauty Pageant," the contestants are stunned to find Miss Illinois's lifeless body, strangled under mysterious circumstances. As Castle and Beckett investigate the fierce rivalries of the pageant scene, they uncover several individuals with potential motives for the murder. Among the suspects are envious contestants, the flamboyant millionaire sponsor Victor Baron, and the indulgent TV host, Bobby Stark, all of whom could have reasons to want Miss Illinois out of the picture.
