In 2000, a local preservation society took control of this property and stumbled upon over 30 boxes of unclaimed human remains hidden in the basement bathroom. During renovations, they discovered remnants of the Episcopal church, including light fixtures and stained glass that were concealed within the walls and ceilings, suggesting the original funeral director crafted a building within a building. Today, female staff members at the museum often report feeling watched by an unseen presence. One woman notes that this sensation intensified significantly after they received an altar from another historic church. The building experiences drastic temperature swings, with areas shifting from icy cold to stifling heat. Sounds of furniture moving and shuffling footsteps are frequently heard. The former funeral director recounted how locked doors would inexplicably be found ajar and floral arrangements mysteriously rearranged. Occasionally, he even detected strange voices echoing through the empty halls.
