Never the Twain (1981)

Episode Overview

Joe Mannix receives a desperate letter from Lynn Sargent, urging him to come to Arizona. Upon his arrival at the airport, she gives him a check for $1,000 along with a small sealed package, explaining that the money is his payment for delivering the package to the Los Angeles Police Department. Just then, two men attempt to snatch the package, but Mannix fights them off and keeps it safe. However, when he opens it, he discovers it contains only blank sheets of paper. To add to the confusion, the local police chief reveals that Lynn Sargent died in a hit-and-run a month prior.
