Episode Overview
Carl is surprised when his long-lost brother, Roy Harper, unexpectedly shows up for his birthday, unaware that Roy has been presumed dead for 11 years. Vint, defying Mama's wishes, invites Uncle Roy to stay with them for a bit. Meanwhile, Sonya is gearing up for a beauty pageant, with help from Naomi, Ellen, and Mama. During this time, Uncle Roy shares a story about seeing Princess Grace at the White House, noting her beauty and how Sonya shares her smile. He also encourages Vint to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter, even securing an application from the Ray Town Fire Department. In an intimate moment, Roy comments to Thelma that her elbows remind him of Dorothy Lamour, the same feature that drew Carl to her. They share a hug, but he leaves before anything more can happen, inadvertently leaving behind his cooler, hinting that he plans to return, much to Thelma's hopes.
