Episode Overview
While the family enjoys a game of Scrabble, Ellen drops by with a gift for Mama, hoping to apologize once more for missing Aunt Fran's funeral. However, Mama refuses to accept her apology and kicks her out. Later, Naomi arrives and mentions that Ellen is in the hospital for surgery. This prompts Mama to rally the family to visit her. The hospital visit quickly becomes tense as Mama begins berating family members. Unable to endure the hostility any longer, Ellen calls a nurse to have the family removed and even requests security at the door. Eventually, Mama sends everyone home but sneaks back in to keep Ellen company overnight. They finally reconcile after years of conflict, and Ellen shares the real reason for her hospital stay: she’s getting a tummy tuck.
