Catweazle (1970)

Episode Overview

Catweazle finds himself entangled with the TAB and encounters a fraudulent fortune teller, masterfully portrayed by the talented Hattie Jacques. Unable to reach the betting office—whom he calls "bettering"—farmhand Sam asks Carrot to place his bets. However, since Sam is underage, he turns to an unwilling Catweazle for assistance. Reluctantly, Catweazle dons old scarecrow attire to travel into the village on a bus, which he refers to as "thou roaring chariot." Once there, he spots a sign for the fortune teller's rooms. He confronts her, declaring she lacks "the eye of time," and warns her that she misguides her customers before alerting the local bookie about another phony patron.
