Episode Overview
After another mishap with his magic, Catweazle finds himself precariously perched on the church spire. In his quest to return to his own time, he inadvertently ends up traveling sideways instead. The local vicar, using a few familiar Latin phrases, persuades Catweazle to descend and explore his collection of Latin books. At the vicar's home, surrounded by cats named after iconic 40s and 50s Hollywood stars, Catweazle becomes intrigued by the telephone, which he refers to as the "telling bone." His attempts to "speak to the spirits" only create further chaos. Meanwhile, farmhand Sam struggles with his new car, but it eventually starts. The vicar contacts Hexwood Farm after realizing Catweazle's whereabouts, and when Carrot overhears the call, he asks Sam for a ride to the vicarage. On their way, Sam's mother, despite her absent-mindedness, insists on joining them.
