This Old House (1979)
S14E26 The Miami House - 6
Episode Overview
In the final three days of the project, the painters are diligently finishing their work while our master carpenter replaces a broken window from earlier in the construction. He demonstrates the advanced plastic membrane inside the panes that enhances energy efficiency. Upstairs, our host admires the freshly sanded and refinished pine floors. We witness the rapid installation of a screened pool enclosure and inspect the new garage doors and landscaping. Inside, tile is laid in the kitchen and around the fireplace. Our master carpenter visits a nearby housing development where homes must be elevated due to the flood plain. Back at the house, our host chats with 76-year-old owner Margaret O'Donnell Blue before touring the finished kitchen with designer Cecilia Luaces. At the wrap party, Brian Stamp discusses the budget, which totals $75,000 from the homeowner—$10,000 over their insurance payout—and $75,000 worth of donated materials.
