Our master carpenter shares a clever technique for concealing nails while shingling, as our general contractor constructs a beautiful cedar and fir deck for the new back entrance. On the front porch, our master carpenter starts swapping out the old, mismatched square columns for elegant round ones. He considers options like polymer, fiberglass, marble, and traditional wood before opting for the wooden columns. After priming them with alkyd, he applies a tripolymer sealant inside and finishes with vented polyurethane caps and bases. Finally, we head to Winnipeg, Canada, for the Jimmy Carter Habitat for Humanity Work Project.
