This Old House (1979)
S16E01 The Acton House - 1
Episode Overview
The season kicks off with a visit to the Fairbanks House in Dedham, Massachusetts, the oldest wood-frame house in the country, dating back to 1636. Next, we head to the project house for the season, a 1710 colonial in Action, Massachusetts, owned by Terry and Sima Maitland. The home, which is experiencing issues with its sills and settling, poses a significant challenge for the family of five due to its limited space. With a budget of $150,000, the Maitlands are advised by master carpenter Tom Silva to “let sleeping dogs lie” and avoid tackling many of the house's original issues, which would quickly drain their funds.
