S17E23 The Savannah House - 5
Episode Overview
The episode begins at Fort Pulaski, a Federal stronghold seized by Confederate troops early in the Civil War, only to succumb to more advanced weaponry that rendered its stone structure ineffective. At the fort, freshly crafted mouldings, designed to match the existing details, are neatly stored in the carriage house. Job supervisor Mark Fitzpatrick is upstairs, using a fax service to obtain the latest specifications for new appliances, ensuring he can accurately prepare for the electronics and gas installations. Meanwhile, drywall contractor Kevin Landry is busy smoothing out joints with a vacuum sander. Viewers are introduced to a new batt insulation made from cotton scraps and flooring contractor Mike McMurray, who is tasked with laying a new heart pine floor in the addition, matching and refinishing the old floor. The scene also showcases paint and wallpaper preparation, alongside a new plaster ceiling medallion crafted by master plasterer Jean-Francois Furieri. The visit wraps up at the restoration project for the Lucas Theater.
