S18E10 The Nantucket House - 10
Episode Overview
A trip to Nantucket's Life-Saving Museum reveals an important aspect of the island's nautical history. Simultaneously, the site buzzes with subcontractor activity. Mason Dan Kissell demonstrates the rounded firebox he’s constructing for the Bentley's new chimney, a classic Nantucket style. Upstairs, electrician Sally Bates is busy installing workboxes, utilizing airtight plastic encasements for the external walls to enhance insulation. Installer Eric Branzetti meticulously runs tubing for the central vacuum system and showcases the motor unit located in the basement. Plumber Butch Ramos provides a look at the rough plumbing, while at Bruce Killen's workshop, the creation of elegant Victorian brackets for the restored front entrance begins. Lastly, the crew wraps the house in spun-bonded fabric to prevent winter drafts from seeping through the aged sheathing.
