This Old House (1979)

S19E21 The San Francisco House - 2

Feb 14, 1998 Season 19 Episode 21 Documentary, Reality

Episode Overview

The day begins for the crew at the Powell Street cable car turntable, where they manually rotate the cars for their journey back to Fisherman's Wharf. General contractor Dan Plummer has three weeks’ worth of progress to showcase: the chapel’s woodwork has been sanded, the baptismal fount is now solidified with concrete to support the new fireplace, and the entire back addition has been stripped down to the studs due to a termite infestation. Exterminator Bill Pierce is on-site, applying a borate solution to the plywood for the new subfloor, which will be made from pressure-treated Douglas fir, free of arsenic and chromium. Richard notes the blown-in cellulose insulation in the floor joist bays, while our host visits a Gap store designed by homeowner Mark Dvorak. The store’s minimalist design emphasizes the clothing, and Mark and Laurie Ann aim to implement a similar aesthetic in the church to showcase their furniture.
