This Old House (1979)
S19E25 The San Francisco House - 6
Episode Overview
Our host explores Alcatraz before heading to the jobsite, where the master carpenter is diligently fitting the new front doors. The first task involves trimming them to accommodate the uneven opening. Meanwhile, work in the chapel is underway, with industrial halogen lights being installed overhead, fresh paint brightening the dark wainscoting, and a cleft-slate surround enhancing the Rumford firebox. Upstairs, drywall has been treated with a bonding agent for a two-coat finish plaster, a last-minute choice by the homeowners. In the master bedroom, a zero-clearance fireplace takes center stage, while plumber Jeff Deehan struggles to retrofit an old wall-mounted sink with a foot-pedal faucet. The master carpenter is busy aligning the hinges on the doors with a mortice jig. Homeowner Mark Dvorak receives the kitchen cabinets he designed, crafted in a computer-controlled facility managed by Paul La Bruna.
