Episode Overview
The day kicks off with Roger Cook and his team tackling some landscaping work. They remove several trees that pose a risk to the house, relocate a number of rhododendrons and azaleas obstructing the new addition, and prepare to move a towering 25-foot evergreen and a 20-foot dogwood by balling their roots and employing a large excavator. Inside, architect Stephen Holt presents a model of the planned renovations to homeowner David McCue and Steve. His vision is to restore the exterior’s architectural charm while resolving some interior layout issues for the McCues. This includes repositioning the kitchen to the heart of the home, a departure from the original Shingle style. To demonstrate the feasibility of this design, Holt takes David and Steve to a nearby residence where he successfully executed a similar transformation. Back at the house, the master carpenter...
