This Old House (1979)
S23E03 The Manchester House - 3
Episode Overview
Steve visits the seaside public rotunda and the "chowder house," guided by John Huss, the president of the Manchester Historical Society. Inside the house, they discover nearly four dumpsters' worth of debris from the renovation process. As master carpenter Steve and Tom explore the building, they discuss its renovation history and the plans ahead. Architect Stephen Holt and homeowner David McCue weigh various options to create the spacious, light-filled kitchen and living room the McCues desire. While some ideas are bold and costly, others suggest clever, minor adjustments. However, they cannot alter the footprint, as the concrete for the new addition and porch has already been poured. Meanwhile, Richard Trethewey has had to address an oil leak from one of the old steel tanks, opting for two new polyethylene-lined tanks from Europe that come with a guarantee against rotting.
