Episode Overview
While working at the site, detectorist Bob Phillips unearths a cannonball believed to be a remnant from the War of 1812. Norm shares updates with Kevin about the progress of the old Greek Revival house and the new connecting ell. Tom introduces Kevin to two carpentry students participating in This Old House's 25th Anniversary apprenticeship program. He then demonstrates how he has constructed all ten posts on the barn’s short side using scarf joints for the connections. Kevin visits the Yale Building Project in New Haven, where architecture students gain hands-on experience by designing and building a stylish home in a low-income area. Meanwhile, Norm meets with structural insulated panel expert Frank Baker to explore the efficient installation of insulated structural floors using SIPS technology.
